In 2022 I visited Penang. Due to the coronavirus the city was still effectively out of bounds to most foreigners. Having visited the city within the last five years I missed the buzz that tourism brought. Walking the streets of George Town I sensed a place that was rediscovering an old way of living before modern tourism had taken over.
