A bank holiday visit to Oxford have us the serendipitous joy of accidentally visiting the Oxford Botanical gardens by the river. With the nation still two weeks away from freedom Day on 21 June all the venues we visited were booked up -numbers limited and booking in advance only.
The gardens, however, were open. Within five minutes I had booked and paid for our tickets on their website and we were inside.
It was a hot day and lots of people found plenty trees to relax under. The glad houses area small but the walk around the flower beds made up for that. The gardens are compact but a welcome oasis inside the city.
