It’s not often that Leeds get more than a casual passing reference in the broadloids. This article is a missed opportunity for a meaningful understanding of Leeds bar a few quotes from Farke resolving his fear of horses and adaptability in tactics to make Leeds less predictable to the opposition – we shall see as the season progresses.
It has been a while (April 2026) since The Guardian last had anything meaningful to say about Farke, and it is obvious this latest gushing praise is timed to his contract talk at Leeds. His tactics do not always work (see Chelsea FC in the Carabou Cup, but in the PL he is still unbeaten and keeping fans holding onto that early optimism that we are now a Premier League team to stay. Leeds are still a hard team to beat and it will be clearer over the next few months if the new signings are sufficient to recycle the team for the new season. The omens are good but it was only 10 months ago that Farke was in a desperate position until he was prepared to change the team formation against Manchester City.
Maybe if he can progress Leeds this season he will be given another horse to parade around the redeveloped Elland Road to celebrate Leeds “United Are Back.”
